Parisian Gems: Shopping for Covet in the City of Light

There are few things I love more than traveling. Scratch that – there are few things I love more than traveling and finding incredible treasures for my shop, Covet! On my recent trip to Paris, amidst the croissants and café au laits, I carved out time for a little (okay, a lot of) gemstone shopping, and let me tell you, the haul was magnifique.

There's something incredibly inspiring about sourcing materials abroad. The history of the markets, the vibrant culture, and the unique perspectives on design all feed into the creative process. It was a trip filled with inspiration, from the intricate ironwork of the Eiffel Tower to the unexpected pops of color in local patisseries.

The Hunt for the Perfect Strand

My mission was clear: find unique, high-quality bead strands that I could transform into one-of-a-kind necklaces for the store. I hit several incredible suppliers, immersing myself in a world of sparkle and color. The thrill of the hunt is real, and the satisfaction of finding something truly special is unmatched.

Here are some of the gorgeous beads I brought back:
  • Agate: I found some stunning polished agate strands with unique banding and rich, earthy tones. They offer a grounding elegance that I know you'll love.
  • Howlite: I couldn't resist the serene white and grey howlite. It's so versatile and offers a cool, calm energy.
  • Turquoise: A Parisian spin on a classic! These turquoise beads have such vibrant color and will add a perfect pop to any outfit.
  • Moonstone: For a touch of magic and iridescence, I selected some luminous moonstone. They shimmer beautifully and catch the light in the most ethereal way.
  • Multi-Gem Strands: And for those who can never pick just one, I found some exquisite mixed-gem strands featuring a delightful blend of different stones.

So many aisles of gemstones & crystals and one of my favorite bead shops in Paris

Inspiration Everywhere

My design ideas for these necklaces are flowing. The vibrant colors of the howlite and turquoise were inspired by the bright floral displays I saw near Notre Dame, while the elegant moonstone and agate reflect the sophisticated architecture and soft light of the city.

I've attached a few photos from my trip to give you a peek into the world that inspired the upcoming Covet capsule collection. The charm of Paris is truly woven into every bead.
